Her Royal Highness's Annual Yuletide Musical Celebration Pays Tribute to Charity Helpers

Her Royal Highness has organised her yearly Yuletide celebration at the iconic London venue, with a congregation comprising dignitaries, stars, and everyday helpers who have helped their communities.

The sizable congregation will listen to a blend of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from performers including award-winning actors.

Centred Around Love and Generosity

The theme of the event, held in the atmospheric historic church on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a brain cancer, and who established a foundation, a charity called Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to help households where there is a child with a terminal illness.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any expectation or recognition, make an remarkable change to the circumstances of individuals," wrote Catherine in a note prior to the festive gathering.

A Steady Comeback

The princess has been making her own measured re-emergence to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, last month delivering her major oration since 2023, in which she discussed recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".

Music and Opportunity

Guests arriving at the Abbey will be entertained by budding artists supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, established in part by the Duchess of Kent to widen access to instrumental training.

Carys Wood, aged 18, who is a trumpet player and is from southwest Wales, has been helped by the organisation, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "awesome" to be taking part in the evening's event.

"Pursuing music is often costly," she stated. She is now enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to hone their artistic talents.

A Family Affair

Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who performs on the brass instrument, will also be at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many important people," she said.

Among the guests will be representatives of different generations.

That will feature young Saphia Turner, nine, winner of a prize for youthful altruism, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to generate funds for local food charities.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been adorned with custom-created holiday decorations, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

Among the musical performers will be recording artist Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "a dream come true."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be aired by television on December 24th.
