Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
