Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have encountered plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure features a hero that is truly a piece of poop striving to make its way to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."
Player controls is simple: just use a one button to leap. Across one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face boss fights and access a store to buy customizations for your dung hero.
Time your movements precisely, as a mistake means starting over. Jump using bubbles to launch your character upward, navigate disappearing surfaces, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Collect coins to purchase more difficult game content where things ramps up.
Visually, the experience features vibrant stages and a killer music score. The simple visual style with shifting geometric shapes may remind gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.
While it's difficult to recall previous releases where you are a dung character, gaming have long incorporated fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, this theme shows up heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly concept, Unko Technica has already earned significant awards, like being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to debut on PC this November.
